Ken Ober, who many in my generation remember as the host of MTV’s “Remote Control,” has died.
You know, if there’s one thing 2009 has taught me, it’s that God really, really hates the 1980s.
So, in honor of our fallen homie, here’s the first part of an episode from 1987.
RIP, Ken. I hope you’re able to beat the bishop, and I guess now we know the answer to “Dead or Canadian.”

Bummer
OMFG. NOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Seriously. This just sucks. Every one of my childhood icons is going down like dominoes.
First sign that you’re getting old.
=x
Oh, trust me. My body tells me how old I am about once a day.
Wait, he was still alive?
I don’t know how to feel about “Remote Control”, since it was the beginning of the end for MTV, as in, their first step away from showing videos and concerts. But Ken Ober did seem like a cool guy, even if he was supposedly doing the show from his mother’s basement. And wasn’t he way too way to die, anyway?
